Why I love Mercenaries 2: World in Flames

A hundred dollar bill superimposed on an explosion? Sign me up!

Mercenaries 2: World in Flames is a game developed by the late Pandemic Studios. You may recognize this name if you've played the Star Wars: Battlefront series or The Saboteur. You're one of three mercenaries sent to Venezuela to rescue the leader of a Venezuelan uprising for a wealthy benefactor. However, when you try to retrieve payment, he pops a cap in your ass (No really, he shoots you in the ass, and they spare no expense to remind you at every possible moment). Now you're on a campaign of revenge against this benefactor so you can get what you deserve, while blowing as much shit up as possible.

Now I don't like this game because it is good. I like because of how bad it is! Airstrikes can pretty much solve any problems for you, so if you have some extra cash laying around, just buy a nuclear bomb, problem solved! Being able to survive falls from thousands of feet high and watching your million dollar helicopter plummet to the ground and fail in a catastrophic explosion is is one of the more satisfying things to do. Need money? Just swindle your coworkers out of theirs because their challenges are laughably easy and you can make them bet millions. There is a certain part in the game when you're supposed to escort a high profile CEO from the airport to his building in the city. Sure they give you a car, but ride in style! Just call in a helicopter and fly him to the building no problem! You can completely bypass everyone that is trying to kill him by flying over them.

Now let's talk technical problems. The vehicle spawners are sometimes broken so as you're driving around you may want to look out for cars and even tanks that come crashing on you from above because they spawned incorrectly and launched into the sky. The ragdolls are hilarious, if you hit a civilian with your car or armor piercing tank shell, you get to watch them either simply collapse, or fly to the moon Team Rocket style! Don't worry, they get right back up because civilians can't die! The AI's driving is ridiculous. If they aren't blatantly running into their fellow civilians, They're just driving right over traffic in an APC, so if you ever play, try and stop traffic for more than 3 seconds. Hilarity will ensue.

That's just some of the reasons I love Mercenaries 2: World in Flames. I definitely recommend picking it up because it will bring you hours and hours of laughter. The best part is is that it is Co-op, so laugh with your friends too! I'm sure you guys will find more to love than I have!
